There wasn't a wash-and-go system that treated 3C–4C hair as anything more than an afterthought.
Most formulas are built for looser curl patterns and adapted downward, or built for maximum hold with texture treated as an afterthought. Both approaches miss the same thing: hair in this range doesn't just need more product. It needs a system engineered for how it actually behaves — how it loses moisture, how it shrinks, how it holds a curl (or doesn't) through the days after wash day.
So we set out to build one. Not a single product claiming to do everything, but two products engineered to work as one system — approached at the formulation level, not just the marketing level. No flakes. No crunch. Just curls that hold their shape because the system was built to let them, not force them.
The result is EIGHT EM: a 2-step system built specifically for the texture it was designed to serve.
Formulation Philosophy
Engineering, Not Guesswork
EIGHT EM's formulas are built around a few consistent principles — not maximum actives, but calibrated balance. The name itself nods to 18-MEA, a hydrophobic lipid associated with the surface condition of healthy, undamaged hair — the conceptual starting point for how we think about surface architecture and moisture management, not a claim that any formula restores or replicates it.

Conditioning oils and esters are capped below the point where they'd interfere with hold or build up over time.

Flexible Film, Not Rigid Shell
Structure comes from a flexible film system that bends with the hair, not a hard-shell resin that cracks under movement.

Charge Compatibility
01 Hydrate + Prime is formulated with a restrained charge so it supports 02 Lock + Define's hold instead of competing with it.

Balanced Hydration
Moisture is calibrated, not maximized — enough to hydrate without inviting the humidity swelling that leads to frizz.
